Objectives

The Academy will introduce basic technologies that are vital to improving video production skills that could be used in classroom instruction. It will also serve as a foundation for more advanced study of media production techniques. Participants will receive instruction in the aesthetics and hands-on application of various technologies related to video production including video camera operation, digital video editing, and media presentation software.

 

Participants will attain basic proficiency and understanding in the following areas:

  • Operation of video cameras, including aesthetics
  • Overview of Media technology History
  • Digital video editing, including graphics, special effects, and aesthetics
  • Audio recording basics
  • Adobe Photoshop – image manipulation program
  • Adobe Premiere – video editing & compositing software
  • Organization for media production
  • Visual storytelling techniques
  • Problem solving in the creation of visual effects
  • An overview of advanced software & hardware, and discussion on issues surrounding media technology as it pertains to content creation.
  • Introduction to Studio Technology

 

All sessions are held in the state-of-the-art Communication Department spaces located in the Moss Arts Center on the campus of Virginia Tech
