Dr. Syrenthia Robinson

Dr. Robinson is an advanced instructor at Virginia Tech with expertise in:

  • Multimedia journalism
  • Video recording and editing
  • Web design and editing
  • Production management

The former director at HGTV, Dr. Robinson has years of experience in media production, communications research and teaching. She has received awards from Broadcast Education Association and other academic and industry leaders. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Tennesee-Knoxville

 

Derley Aguilar

Derley is an instructor at Virginia Tech with expertise in:

  • Video Journalism
  • News Broadcasting
  • Photojournalism
  • Video Production
  • Reporting for and Social Effects of Mass Media

A veteran local news director and station manager, Ms. Aguilar has received numerous awards for her production work and for her teaching.

 

Mike Horning

Dr. Horning’s research is focused on the social and psychological effects of communications technologies, with particular expertise in:

  • Social and Psycological Effects of Communications Technologies
  • Mass Communication
  • Multimedia Reporting
  • Politics
  • Visual Media

Dr. Horning’s most recent research explores how individuals use mobile technologies to interact with news media and to engage in political processes. He received his Ph.D. from Penn State University.

 

Paul Spaulding

Paul Spaulding is a veteran TV/Multimedia systems engineer, with decades of experience in the industry. He has helped train and mentor countless professionals now working in the media industry.
