This session will focus on various strategies that teachers can use in the classroom to help their students develop visual storytelling telling techniques using still photography. Teachers will learn the basics of photo composition and how to create audio-visual slideshows.

Workshop Description
This workshop will focus on tools and best practices for editing and sharing video. Prior knowledge of video editing software is not required. The primary editing software used in this workshop will be Adobe Premiere.
Objectives
Participants will learn basic video editing techniques, gain hands-on experience with non-linear editing software, explore common pitfalls associated with video editing, and discover different ways to share video-based media.

Visual Storytelling for Students

Course Description
In this world of gadgets children are growing up more technologically savvy. Video is an essential part of the technology children consume for entertainment and information.
Teachers can develop technological literacy in their students by teaching them to create their own media, like videos, instead of simply consuming it. In this course teachers will learn how students can use video to share their ideas in the same way that they write short stories, essays or poems.
Course Objectives
- Learn how, through video, to foster students’ creativity and help them learn to express themselves
- Learn basic techniques to produce short videos
- Explore different publishing platforms to set up a class vlog (video blog)

Studio Day
Students will spend the morning in the TV Studio, working on simulated newscasts and familiarizing themselves with modern studio technology.
They may also use this time to conclude any other projects began earlier in the week. The workshop will conclude at noon.
